Sure, he had separation anxiety but they took him out with them whenever they could, and when they did leave him in the house on his own they always put the radio on. They continued putting the radio on for him even after he disappeared, until one evening it hit them. A Spirited Debate carried from the speakers. The current moment was playing on their TV too. Like the dog before them, they broke soon after and ran naked across fields at the back of the house towards the light of a distant highway. It’s said they could be heard over a mile away, calling out in untidy unison: rescue rescue.
