Review + Interview Submissions

Pool Party is a reading series and online lit mag seeking critical reviews and interviews featuring work that evokes the nostalgia of 70s horror and gothic fiction—pool parties gone wrong; suburban drugs, sex, and murder; and the weird shit kids do when their parents aren’t looking—and explores critical issues through the lens of satire.

We love music, writing, and art that makes us feel nostalgic for childhood while critiquing suburbia; compels us to question (or eroticize!) banality; and makes us want to listen again and again (so to speak) because it didn’t hurt us enough the first time. If you would like us to review your creative project, please send a summary or exhibition statement to editors@poolpartymag.com for our consideration. To submit a pitch for a review or interview that you would like featured on The Deep End, please email your pitch to the same email.

Guidelines

Please send all submissions to editors@poolpartymag.com with a subject line that follows this format: Review (or Interview) Submission [date]. In other words, “Interview Submission 2.14.2025.”

If pitching to be featured, please confirm your submissions have met the below requirements before sending.
•    In the body of the email, please include summary of the book or art show you plan to review (or details about the thrust of the conversation in the case of an interview).
•    Please include a bio for yourself and the person whose work you are covering along with links tooth yours and their website and social accounts.
•    Attach something you’ve written that’s in the vein of your pitch.
•    Do not submit anything generated by A.I. Although we know that writers and artists are doing interesting work that is in dialogue with A.I., we choose not to contribute to the ecologically disastrous impacts caused by utilizing this technology. We also feel strongly against publishing work containing crowdsourced language and phrases created by A.I. tools that have been ‘trained’ by subsuming existing authors’ and artists’ work without consent, credit, or compensation.

We aim to respond to submissions within a month but response times can vary. Please do not follow up unless 90 days have passed since you submitted.
